Chimney Services in Coquitlam

Chimney Concern? Call Our Team 24/7

Smoke entering a room, reduced draft, persistent odours, water stains, or visible masonry damage can signal that a chimney needs professional attention. Depending on the provider and scope, chimney services may include assessing the fireplace, flue, cap, crown, flashing, damper, and connected wood-burning appliance for buildup, blockage, weather exposure, or damage.

At Duct Ninjas, we give homeowners a straightforward place to start. Tell us what you’ve noticed, what type of fireplace or appliance is involved, and when the system was last used. We’ll confirm whether the requested work falls within our current scope.

Call (778) 401-5281 to discuss your chimney concern and ask about a free on-site inspection.

Know the Scope Before Work Begins

We explain the available scope before moving forward, including whether the issue may call for routine maintenance, further evaluation, or another qualified provider.

For services we confirm and provide, we offer a satisfaction guarantee and a 6-month warranty on all services. If something isn’t clear, we can answer your questions so you can make an informed decision.

What a Chimney Assessment Can Reveal

A chimney assessment may examine accessible interior and exterior components for buildup, damage, blockage, and moisture entry. The scope depends on the chimney design, appliance type, roof access, and whether hidden damage is suspected.

Common areas considered during an assessment include:

Chimney Exterior: Masonry, mortar joints, and visible signs of movement or deterioration.
Cap and Crown: Damage or openings that could allow rain, leaves, or animals to enter.
Flashing: The sealed area where the chimney meets the roof, checked for possible water entry.
Firebox and Damper: Accessible components around the fire and the mechanism that controls airflow.
Chimney Flue: The passage that carries smoke and combustion gases outside, including accessible areas where residue or damage may be visible.

A chimney cleaning or sweeping assessment may identify soot, ash, nests, leaves, or creosote buildup. Creosote is a combustible residue created by wood smoke. Difficult access, a known chimney fire, or signs of concealed damage may require a more advanced evaluation by an appropriately qualified professional.

When Chimneys & Wood-Burning Appliances Need Attention

B.C. guidance states that wood-burning appliances should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year by a certified technician. An assessment may also be appropriate before seasonal use, after a chimney fire, following changes to an appliance or venting system, or when warning signs appear.

Arrange an evaluation when you notice:

Smoke spilling into the room instead of drafting upward.
Persistent fireplace odours or visible creosote.
Cracked masonry, corrosion, or a damaged liner.
Water stains, leaks, or moisture around the fireplace.
Animal activity, nesting material, or another blockage.
An unexplained change in airflow or fire performance.

Coquitlam Rules for Residential Wood-Burning Devices

Residential indoor wood-burning devices in Coquitlam fall within Metro Vancouver’s Residential Indoor Wood Burning Bylaw 1303 framework. Covered devices include fireplaces, wood stoves, fireplace inserts, pellet stoves, masonry heaters, and wood-burning furnaces.

Users must submit a declaration of compliance with best burning practices. Eligible devices within the Urban Containment Boundary must also be registered for continued use under the bylaw. Best practices include burning clean, seasoned wood or approved manufactured fuels, avoiding garbage and treated wood, keeping fires small and hot, and maintaining and inspecting the device regularly.

Requirements and eligibility vary by device and property. Check Metro Vancouver’s current information for guidance specific to your situation. This overview isn’t legal advice.

Confirm the Provider Fits Your Chimney & Appliance

We serve Coquitlam, the Vancouver area, and the Lower Mainland through our established air duct and dryer vent cleaning work. You can also contact us about a chimney, fireplace, flue, blockage, draft, or moisture issue. We’ll determine whether the requested service falls within our current scope.

Before booking with any provider, confirm that the company handles your chimney system, appliance type, and access conditions. Ask whether the requested work involves an inspection, cleaning assessment, repair evaluation, or referral to another qualified professional.

When you contact us, describe the system and the symptoms you’ve observed. Information about smoke, odours, leaks, visible buildup, recent changes, and previous incidents will help us understand the request.

When to Request a Chimney Evaluation

You don’t need to wait for obvious damage before requesting an assessment. An unknown maintenance history, long periods without use, or changes to a connected appliance may justify an evaluation before the next fire.

Consider professional attention when:

The chimney hasn’t been used for an extended period.
You’ve recently purchased the property and don’t know its service history.
The fireplace, stove, or venting arrangement has been modified.
A chimney fire or another incident may have affected the system.

Don’t use the system if you suspect chimney fire damage, receive a carbon monoxide alarm, discover a severe blockage, or see signs of structural instability. Keep it out of operation until an appropriately qualified professional has evaluated it.

Get a Clear Next Step for Your Chimney Concern

Tell us what you’ve observed and what type of system is involved. We’ll confirm whether the request is within our current scope and explain the appropriate next step.

You don’t need to know which service to request before calling. Have the appliance type, symptoms, maintenance history, and details of any previous incidents ready if available.
